Sleep Training at 8-Weeks!?! Oh my...
This article, "Sleep Training at 8-Weeks: Do you have the guts" discusses an interesting prospective on sleep training at 8-weeks old. Can it be done? Yes. Is it for everyone? Definitely not. While this article talks about closing the door at 7pm and not going in till 7am (also known as using the extinction method to teach your baby how to sleep independently and getting consolidated uninterrupted sleep), this is NOT the only way to approach the situation with your wee little one's sleep. My daughter (2nd baby) slept early on because of my guided 3-step technique I used with her early on. And, I should add that I was exclusively breastfeeding her. I never shut the door on her for sleeping (she was right next to me in a bassinet), but I would let a couple minutes go by before attending to her cries to see if she could resettle on her own- and then applied my technique. Before I knew it, she was sleeping through the night 12 hours by 8-weeks old.
