A Healthy Little Note: Issue #5
Hey!
This week I've got a little bit of everything for you - a recommendation of toys your little one will love, some Mom Hacks to help you keep those toys organized, and even a magic phrase to combat any tantrums that come your way.
Here we go...

1. FIVE MAGIC WORDS TO HELP WITH TANTRUMS
You know how hard it is to change one of your habits? Well, it's even harder for your little one to change one of theirs.
Enter tantrums.
Toddlers throw tantrums for the same reasons adults do - because change is hard.
But here's a simple phrase you can use to help them deal with a change:
"Oooh...I have an idea!"
Those five magic words helped me countless times with my littles, including when they act like you-know-whats when I tell them screen time is over.
Here's how it works:
The first step, before using this magical phrase, is to get an arsenal of small activities together you can offer up to your little one instead of the thing you don't want them to do (in my case, screen time).
It could be a game, activity, or even something as simple as hide and go seek (bonus points for that one since it also gives you connection time and them practice counting to 10).
Whatever you choose, make it something you will do WITH them - that's important.
Then, the next time your little one starts nagging you for more screen time, bust out your magic phrase, your counter offer activity, and watch what happens.
It may sound easier said than done, but once you do it, your little one will come to understand this new norm - and so will you!

2. HOW TO CREATE A HOME YOUR KIDS WILL WANT TO COME BACK TO
Now that I'm a parent watching my kids grow up too quickly, I know there will come a day that they don't need me any more (insert crying emoji) - that may be why this article about how to create a home our adult kids will want to visit hit home for me.

3. 12 TRICKS FOR ORGANIZING YOUR LITTLE ONE'S TOYS
I love Mom Hacks and this What's Up Moms video featuring 12 Tricks For Organizing Your Child's Toys is a great one. My favorite trick is the playdoh holder (it's genius!), but all these hacks have made our kids cupboard so much more manageable.

4. THREE NEW BABY MONITORS WORTH CHECKING OUT
If you're the kind of parent that lives to have the latest and greatest technology in your home, check out this breakdown of three outstanding new high-tech baby monitors.
I haven’t tried them yet so I can’t vouch for them, but the Nanit does look interesting. Just remember as your little one starts to sit up and move around in the crib (think 6-9mos old), that monitor needs to be away from the crib and out of reach from your little one!
