Healthy Little Note: Issue #42
Hey there!
Hope everyone had a safe and happy 4th of July! I actually spent the past week driving across country from NY to LA. My sister and her family are moving back here, and we drove her dog, Theo, across the states. We had a blast! (check out our Truck Stop pics below…)
And of course, during the many hours of driving, I had plenty of time to find some fantastic articles for you. In this week's newsletter, I have a great read on potty training, one on postpartum depression that really hit home since I recently took a course on this topic (my write up coming soon ;), a Ted Talk on 3 fears about screen time for kids, and of course my latest upcoming events!
Let's do this...
* * *
1. POTTY TRAINING... READY, SET, GOOOOOOO!
I remember spending a weekend home potty training my kids over the course of 3 days - with the first day having them wear mostly nothing but a t-shirt and making runs to the bathroom and of course lots of floor clean-ups...
I also looked for signs from them for when they were ready, and we practiced on the potty before nap times and bath times... Just to get in the routine, even if nothing happened. This great article from the New York Times talks about what to do and when to "worry". So, if you're thinking about potty training or just want to learn about it for upcoming events, check it out!

2. THE STRUGGLE IS REAL...
Postpartum depression is more common than you may actually think. Reports say 20% of women experience postpartum depression, and that's only what's reported.
This medium article takes a look at some real accounts of a mama experiencing thoughts and feelings she thought weren't even possible. So, if some of these accounts feel our sound at all familiar to you, just know 1. you're not alone and 2. this is super treatable.

3. FEARS ABOUT SCREEN TIME + WHY THEY'RE NOT TRUE...
Did you know that we check our phones upwards of 50 times per day, but when our kiddos play around with them we get nervous! Are screens ruining childhood? Well, this TED Kids + Family talk by children's media expert Sara Dewitt has something else for you to think about.
She discusses 3 common fears around digital media, and how we can change our focus to see potential opportunity instead. Of course there are legit reasons to be concerned about the current state of content, but when we engage (watch with and talk about content) with our little ones, so much more growth can come from these devices.

4. WHERE TO FIND ME NEXT...
On July 19th @ 10:30am, I will be talking at The Play Date where you can come learn all about infant sleep. They are even giving away a free swag bag too!
And then, on July 26th, you can find me at Beverly Hills Pediatrics for a talk on Newborn Sleep or Younger Baby/Toddler Sleep. Make sure you sign up here!
AND If you have some questions of your own... I've got ya - go here to schedule a FREE 15-minute call with me, and we can chat about it!
OR as always, just reply to this email with any questions you have, and I'll be happy to answer.

4. PROJECT TRUCK STOP...

Well, that's it for this issue!
Hope you enjoyed it and I'd LOVE if you shared it with your friends on social media or spread the word on the local Mommy gossip circuit - thanks!
